Breakfast has always been my favourite meal of the day. In London a favourite past time was seeking new places to go and eat the best breakfast on a Sunday morning. On a round the world trip I am now eating breakfast in some seriously incredible places and this page aims to show them off!
11. Parque Nacional Natural Tayrona, Colombia
I have to admit that I had chocolate bread on the beach every day here, because it was just too good not to have it. A perfect start to the day.
10. The Inca Trail, Peru
The food on the Inca trail is amazing! The porters prepare a 3 course meal, even for breakfast and every day you wake up to a cup of coca tea and this view. Surely this is the best place for breakfast in the entire world?
9. Pico Bonito Lodge, Honduras
We didn‘t stay in the lodge but just popped up for breakfast. The menu is incredible – so many options. I ordered two breakfasts because I just couldn‘t decide. Then we ate while watching the hummingbirds and toucans fluttering around the gardens.
8. Parador Resort, Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica
Definitly not a budget backpackers choice… but I had a real treat to stay here for 4 days while I was in Costa Rica. I got up before breakfast started to see this view and some wildlife before heading down for the biggest buffet I have ever seen and some iguanas!
7. Monkeys Island Hotel, Isla Ometepe, Nicaragua.
This peaceful hotel feels more like a retreat, with a private beach just a minutes walk from this breakfast view. The menu has Nica Tipica (the usual rice and beans!) But we also had actual porridge with fruit, which was a real treat.
6. Playa El Zonte, El Salvador
Banana pancakes or pupusas served in any one of the few restaurants in this gorgeous little surf spot.
5. Hotel Backpackers, Rio Dulce, Guatemala.
4. The Cosy Corner, Placencia, Belize.
Breakfast in paradise. Banana Pancakes or a massive plate of fresh fruits.
3. Hotel Mirador, Flores. Guatemala.
Best coffee we´ve had so far.
2. Hotel Fe, San Pedro, Lake Atitlan. Guatemala.
The view from the bar where a free breakfast is served when staying here. More banana pancakes, fruit and yoghurt and lots of varieties of eggs!!
1. The Terrace Hostel. Antigua, Guatemala.
This is the view from the terrace bar of the hostel, where I ate a large portion of banana pancakes.
Super cool! I’ve only been to Peru…hopefully will get a chance to follow in your footsteps at some point. 🙂
I hope you can too! Peru is wonderful – As well as the Inca trail I had some of the best smoothies for breakfast there in Cusco market. Would love to hear about it if you do get to go exploring in other places – feel free to get in touch for any tips 🙂
