Weekly Small Pleasures is a blog event hosted by Mani from A New Life Wandering. It’s a way to remember and take note of all the brilliant things in life every week. It’s all about those little things that (in Mani’s lovely words) ‘made you smile, made you laugh, made you do a happy dance, made your heart silently smile, or even made you cry for joy.’
This has been a busy week for me in London. Here is a glimpse at some of the pleasures…
1. Bluebells
On Monday, there was a sudden eruption of colour as the bluebells decided to come out in the forest near my work. Monday blues completely eradicated in an instant!

2. Cheering at the London Marathon
I went along to support some runners for a UK based charity called Samaritans for the London Marathon today. For my first time at the event, the atmosphere was incredible. We were on the 25th mile and at this point the runners are so close to finishing. It was wonderful to see them smile and power on as we cheered their names.

3. Human Kindness
At the marathon I witnessed an older runner hit a painful looking problem with his right foot. 2 running club runners caught him and helped him to keep standing, while ignoring any urge to continue to try and get their fastest time possible. They helped him flex his foot and body and held him up until the medical assistance arrived. It was so kind of them, and a beautiful moment of human kindness. We gave them extra cheers as they eventually ran off and were rewarded with a lovely smile back.
4. The World Photography Exhibition
To feed my continuous wanderlust, I went along to World Photography Exhibition at Somerset House in London yesterday. The amateur photography section is inspiring and made me want to go out with my camera immediately!

5. Driving through North Wales
I was lucky enough to visit north Wales last week. Driving back was such a treat. Mountains, lakes, streams and sheep filled my eyes with joy and we even got to see a little snow on the way too!

Hope you’ve all had a brilliant week. Why not join the #Weeklysmallpleasures blog event and share some of your happiness too? Or I’d love to hear more in the comments below 🙂
See what Mani was happy about:
What a lovely week! Watching the London Marathon gives me goosebumps, it is such an amazing community feel. Sad to have missed it this year, but was thinking about it from Chile 🙂
Me too – I always feel tearful watching on tv (in a good way). Seeing it for real was even better. I remember a lot of running in Santiago. Do they have a marathon in Chile?
Me too! They do have one here but it’s no where as big as London in terms of the supporters but it’s getting bigger each year 🙂
That’s exciting 🙂
Lovely week! I loved that one of the points was human kindness.
🙂 it was such a lovely moment 🙂
Small pleasures make all the difference! Thanks for the reminder to look out for diamonds in the rough.
Your so right. That’s why I take part in this blog event – to keep remembering to do that 🙂
